Planning a weekend hotel getaway

A weekend hotel is a different search from a week-long stay. You will use the neighborhood harder, because you do not have spare days to commute. You will also hit the night hotels price most aggressively: Saturday.
The fix is small. Try arriving Thursday, or leaving Sunday morning, and compare that total with the classic Friday-to-Sunday stay. Then refuse a rate that strands you far from the reason you went.

Weekend stays, three ways
Keep the weekend light
Book free cancellation if the other person has not confirmed. A prepaid weekend is painful when one schedule slips. Pack for the neighborhood you chose: a beach hotel and a downtown hotel do not want the same shoes.
