Tokyo hotel deals

Pick the rail hub you will use. Shinjuku and Tokyo Station solve different trips. Small rooms are normal, and cherry-blossom weeks are not a bargain season.

Shibuya is an evening neighborhood. It is a tiring place to sleep if you wanted quiet. Photo via Unsplash.

Tokyo rewards a hotel near the trains you will actually take. Shinjuku is a superb default for a first visit because so many lines meet there. It is a poor default if you hate neon and want to be asleep by ten. Asakusa feels more local and slower. Ginza and Tokyo Station are for people who want the polished center and will pay for it.

Rooms are compact. A family should read occupancy before falling for a low rate. Western hotel brands and Japanese business hotels are different products: one has a larger room, the other has a spotless small one and a serious breakfast.

Seasons and search habits

Cherry blossom season and the last week of the year sell out the neighborhoods people recognize. Book a flexible rate earlier than you would in a shoulder month, then keep checking. Golden Week does the same.

Search in English and confirm the station exit if the listing names one. A hotel "in Shibuya" can still be a 15-minute walk uphill with luggage.
