How to find cheaper flights
Search a day on either side, a nearby airport, and a fare that includes the bag you need. The cheapest headline is often a different product.

Cheap flights are usually a set of small switches, not a secret website. Move a day. Try the other airport. Turn on the bag you will actually check or carry. Then compare the total, including a seat if sitting apart would ruin the trip.
Clearing cookies will not rebuild the fare ladder. Searching a realistic trip will.

What to ignore
Ignore a fare that is basic economy if you have a bag and the bag is extra. Ignore a "nearby" airport that needs a hotel night you did not want. Ignore a mixed-cabin itinerary unless you meant to book one.
When two sites disagree, open the airline page for the itinerary you like and read the fare rules there. The search result is a summary. The airline is the contract.
Continue with when to book flights and basic economy tradeoffs. If the trip is only a personal item, read carry-on-only flying.
